Pungnyeon FC Ltd. Expands “Hanok Village Bibimbap & Sotbap” into Delivery and Shop-in-Shop Market
– Acquisition of “Jeil Gyodong Jjamppong” strengthens dual Korean-Chinese cuisine strategy –
Pungnyeon FC Ltd., the company behind the traditional Korean brand Hanok Village Bibimbap & Sotbap, will expand its operations into Korea’s delivery and shop-in-shop market in the second half of 2025, while advancing its overseas expansion plans. The recent acquisition of Jeil Gyodong Jjamppong, a well-established Chinese cuisine brand with over 40 locations nationwide, marks a strategic step toward operating both Korean and Chinese menus within a single system.
With more than 60 domestic locations, Hanok Village Bibimbap & Sotbap has built its reputation in premium venues such as department stores, outlets, and large retail complexes, consistently delivering stable revenue to its partners. To support small business owners facing barriers to entering these prime locations, Pungnyeon FC Ltd. has developed a shop-in-shop delivery model that enables multiple brands to operate from a single store.
The new model focuses on quick onboarding and operational simplicity. The delivery-focused Korean brand bb.bob can be launched without a franchise agreement—only a supply contract is required. Its menu lineup includes six types of seasoned vegetables, three marinated meats, a signature soy-based plant-protein gochujang sauce, and a concentrated soybean sprout broth, allowing for a variety of dishes such as bibimbap (Korean rice bowl with assorted vegetables) and sotbap (individual stone-pot rice).
Jeil Gyodong Jjamppong features a streamlined cooking process that requires no wok skills or professional chefs, with dishes prepared in under four minutes. This approach not only addresses labor shortages but also ensures consistent quality across locations, making it particularly effective for shop-in-shop operations.
In the second half of 2025, Pungnyeon FC Ltd. will enter the U.S. market starting in Chicago, expanding beyond dine-in and food court formats to include the local delivery sector. In Korea, the company will roll out its Korean-Chinese dual-cuisine shop-in-shop model to diverse commercial districts, while internationally strengthening the global appeal and competitiveness of Korean cuisine.
“We aim to globalize traditional Korean food while expanding our domestic presence, building a franchise system that creates value for both customers and business partners,” said a Pungnyeon FC Ltd. spokesperson.
Starting from a small shop in Jeonju in 1976, Pungnyeon FC Ltd. has carried forward the cherished recipes of its founder’s mother, preserving the authentic flavors of traditional Korean cuisine for nearly five decades. What began as a humble neighborhood eatery has grown into Korea’s largest network of bibimbap specialty restaurants, built on a foundation of time-honored cooking methods, consistent quality, and trust. Today, with proven menu competitiveness, a robust operational system, and a forward-looking growth strategy, the company continues to expand its brand portfolio across domestic and international markets.
